Morley Blades Fencing Club

Sword fighting in London every Tuesday! Why not come and give us a try?

We're a friendly and inexpensive club in London for adult fencers of all levels – and anyone who isn't a fencer but just wants to try it out! We fence all three weapons – foil, epée and sabre. The club runs every Tuesday evening, from 7pm to 9pm. We are based around the corner from Waterloo Station.

Would you like to learn how to fight with swords?

We regularly run courses for beginners. Our next course isn't yet scheduled, but will probably be in late 2024. Contact us for more information and to be notified when the next course is scheduled. The course is two hours at 7pm every Tuesday, lasts six weeks and costs just £90. No experience or special kit needed.

For more information, or if you'd like to sign up, please email us or call 07923 481 543

For more details about what you'll learn see our beginners' course page.

The club

The club runs every Tuesday evening, from 7pm to 9pm, and costs just £160 to join for three months, or £10 guest fee for a session. Everyone gets a group lesson and free fencing; members also get private lessons.

Unlike most fencing clubs, we have all the necessary equipment available to borrow, so there's no need to buy your own.

Everyone with any fencing experience is welcome! If you've just started fencing we have people who have just completed the beginner's course, and if you're a more experienced fencer you may have met some of us at fencing competitions over the last 20 years.

Location

We fence at the Waterloo Action Centre, five minutes' walk just around the corner from Waterloo Station. The address is 14 Baylis Road, Waterloo, London, SE1 7AA

There are three underground stations in the area (Waterloo itself is on the Northern, Bakerloo and Jubilee lines), and lots of buses – see Transport for London

The easiest way to find us is to look at the street map boards just outside the station doors – Waterloo Action Centre is clearly marked. But it is simple to reach us: we are diagonally opposite the Old Vic theatre. This is about five minutes walk from the main entrance to Waterloo station.

From the main entrance to Waterloo Station, cross the road at the zebra crossings and go through the archway under the railway line towards the IMAX cinema. Turn right and walk down Waterloo Road next to the bus lane. You immediately go back under the railway line. Keep walking, passing along the side of Waterloo station, then crossing over Station Approach Road and past the "Fire Station" – a pub.

Almost immediately you reach a major intersection with Bayliss Road and see the Old Vic diagonally across the intersection. Do not cross the road, just turn right, and there is the Waterloo Action Centre.
